Test Results

It is the patient's responsibility to ensure that any pathology, imaging, or other investigation results requested by your GP have been forwarded to Burleigh Heads Medical Centre by the relevant provider.

Once your GP has received and reviewed your results, they will be assigned one of the following actions:

  • No Action Required – If no follow-up is required, your GP will authorise the results for release. Once authorised, a copy of your results can be provided to you upon request.
  • Non-Urgent Appointment Required – If your GP would like to discuss your results, you will be contacted to arrange a routine follow-up appointment.
  • Urgent Appointment Required – If your GP considers your results require prompt review, you will be contacted as soon as possible to arrange an appointment.

For results that require either a non-urgent or urgent follow-up appointment, reception staff are unable to release the results before you have discussed them with your GP. This ensures your results can be explained appropriately and any necessary treatment or follow-up can be arranged.

Clinical Reminders:

Your GP may create clinical reminders within our practice system to help you stay up to date with recommended follow-up care, such as Cervical Screening Tests (CSTs), skin checks, procedures, or other ongoing health reviews.

If you would like to have a specific reminder/recall, please let your GP know during your consultation.

When a reminder becomes due, you will generally receive an SMS reminder inviting you to book an appointment with your GP. If you do not respond to the SMS, a reminder letter may also be sent.

Please note that it remains your responsibility to arrange and attend any recommended follow-up appointments.
